To Mom on Her 92nd Birthday!

I often describe my mom as fabulous and feisty. What better words for a woman who at 92 years old, horseback rides regularly, travels the world, and exercises more in a week than I do in a month. Though what I admire most is her determination to never let age define...

Q&A – Ashlyn & Mom, Finding the World

Thanks to Ashlyn of The Lost Girl’s Guide to Finding the World for today’s epic Q&A post. Be sure to follow her on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

What’s your name, where are you from, and share a little about your mom or dad.
Hi! I’m Ashlyn and I’m from Saskatchewan, Canada. I’m an avid adventure traveller and have been on the road 6 months or more of the year traveling through more than 50 countries since 2010. I’ve made it my full time career and currently freelance to keep me going. My mom, Nola, happens to be my best friend. We spend hours on the phone then hang up to call each other back because we forgot to tell each other just one more thing. She’s my biggest fan and supports me no matter what crazy things I do (like hiking 120 kilometres alone in the backcountry with no cell service in bear territory. She was worried about me but never told me not to do it!)

How often do you travel together?
We travel together as often as possible. Currently we’ve been to six continents and about 15 countries with each other. I’m in the process of convincing her to come to Antarctica with me – but honestly, she doesn’t need convincing, she's in! We’ve even got my dad and one of my brothers in on the idea too.

Postcard from Iceland – Reynisfjara Beach

When thinking of beautiful beaches, one often conjures up the image of silken white sand stretching along a backdrop of palm trees. This, indeed, is a gorgeous sight to behold. But one of the most unique and stunning beaches I’ve ever seen is Reynisfjara Beach in...

What Fun Looks Like at 89

What do you do for fun when you’re 89? Go horseback riding of course! That’s what mom did on our recent trip to Iceland. One might think it’s a risky hobby for a senior citizen, but it’s not as crazy as it sounds. Getting older has meant that mom’s legs aren’t what...

Q&A – Erin & Mom, World Wanderers

Thanks to Erin of The World Wanderer for today’s lovely post. Be sure to follow her on Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, and Snapchat (@WanderingErin).

What’s your name, where are you from, and share a little about your mom or dad.
Erin Marie Musich, New Jersey. My mom is a first-generation American, as her parents were born in Ireland. As a child, she would spend her summers living in Ireland and as a toddler, her family even moved back for a bit. While her travel throughout Ireland was relatively extensive, she had barely scratched the surface on the rest of the world. After a big European trip back in 2006, my mom is hooked on travel and her and my dad go away each summer for a few weeks. They've broadened their horizons and have even added Cambodia and Vietnam to their bucket list. I'm so amazed watching them fall in love with the world as I have!

How often do you travel together?
Not as often as I'd like. Two years ago, I took her on a winter weekend getaway to Saugerties, New York and last May, we went to France together on a Viking River Cruise.

Q&A – Amanda & Family, Chasing Their Sunshine

Thanks to Amanda (wearing pink) from Chasing My Sunshine for today’s fantastic Q&A post. Be sure to follow her on Twitter and Instagram.

What’s your name, where are you from, and share a little about your mom or dad.
Hi there! My name is Amanda and I'm currently residing in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA. I'm from a pretty small town where cornfields were my neighbors. My parents have always been supportive of me slowly moving further and further away from home...because that means they get to come visit! They both love casinos, bingo (I swear they're in their 50s!), and riding their bikes for hours on the weekends.

How often do you travel together?
The past few years we've made it a point to travel together at least once a year. My sister too!
